Film producer Dino De Laurentiis died at age 91

Dino De LaurentiisOscar-winning Italian film producer Dino De Laurentiis, who brought to the big screen nearly 500 films including “Serpico,” “Three Days of the Condor” and “King Kong,” has died in Los Angeles aged 91, Italian media has reported.

De Laurentiis produced several Italian classics in collaboration, including Federico Fellini’s “La Strada,” for which he won an Oscar in 1957.

Eleven years ago, I was in the last throes of despair with my ex-wife. I didn’t much like her, nor she me. Within a year, we would be divorced. She was the kind who slept in another room — sometimes another room in a nearby city. Me, I gleefully flew off to Scotland on a moment’s notice. It was like that. We tolerated one another, and no more.

Reality Format “uMan” Series Sold to Mega Channel

Dori Media Group announced that it has sold its interactive cross platform reality format “uMan”to Mega; the number one Free-to-Air TV channel in Greece.  Dori Media Group is an international media company that focuses on production, distribution, broadcasting and merchandising of Telenovela and Cellcom Israel, the leading cellular operator in Israel. Mega television channel was the first private television station in Greece and was  launched in 1989.  The network airs comedies, dramas, news, current affairs and entertainment shows. The station has also successfully aired reality TV shows. Mega will extend the format’s length so that it follows the show’s participants for 45 days, 7 days a week and over 24 hours a day. Viewers will also be able to catch up events of the day through a daily TV show dedicated to “uMan” on the Mega channel. “uMan” which has won multiple Accolade Awards has now been sold to 15 countries in only 12 months.

Angelina Jolie as Cleopatra in 3D by James Cameron

Sony envisions a mouth-watering Cleopatra franchise with Hollywood’s only female action star, Angelina Jolie, as the mighty Egyptian Queen. James Cameron, post-Avatar, is being conjured to take on this project because he’s one of the few directors Sony chairman Amy Pascal would trust with such a risky mammoth-budget 3-D period spectacle. But can she and producer Scott Rudin land him? (The answer I hear is yes).

Michael Douglas Recovering from Treatment

Actor Michael Douglas is only recovering from a tough course of radiation and chemotherapy for his throat cancer, his rep said, flatly dismissing rumors that Douglas changed his will and is saying goodbye to loved ones.

The “Wall Street” actor’s longtime publicist, Allen Burry, told People.com, “Michael hasn’t changed his will recently, and he isn’t contemplating changing it.”

“Michael is totally focused on his recovery,” Burry continued, again reporting that doctors “are very pleased with how he responded to treatment. They think he’s doing really well. He’s doing as well as can be expected.”
